You want to record a podcast or interview with someone who isn't in the room. The usual answer is "download this studio app, make an account, ask your guest to do the same." Here's how to record remote guests in your browser instead — you send a link, they click it, and every camera gets recorded. Then you edit and cut clips in the same tab.
What you need
Not much. For the host, a laptop or desktop with a webcam and a Chrome, Edge, or Brave browser. For each guest, any device with a camera and a browser — a phone works fine. Nobody installs anything. A wired headset on each end keeps audio clean, but it's optional.

Step 1 — Start a session and invite your guests
Open /record, allow your camera and mic, and start a multi-guest session. You get an invite link. Send it to your guest by text, email, or DM. When they open it, they allow their camera and mic and land in the same room as you. Their camera shows up as an extra circle next to yours. Bring in a second or third guest the same way — each new person is another circle in the layout.
Step 2 — Set the stage before you hit record
Take a minute to get things right while everyone chats. You're the host, so you have the controls:
- Mute or hide any guest — handy if someone's mic is picking up a lawnmower.
- Ask a guest to share their screen. They request it, you approve it, and their deck or demo goes live. Nothing shares without your say-so.
- Swap the shared screen mid-session — cut from your slides to a guest's screen and back, no stopping.
The live connection runs over WebRTC with a TURN server behind it, so you and your guests see and hear each other in real time, even on tighter networks. It feels like a call, because it is one — it's just being recorded.
Step 3 — Record the conversation
Hit record and talk. The composite — your camera, every guest camera, and any screen being shared — is captured as one recording. Run the interview like you normally would: ask your questions, let a guest pull up a chart, mute someone who steps away. Everything you arrange on screen is what lands in the recording.
Step 4 — Edit and clip without switching tools
This is the part other tools make you leave for. When you stop, your recording is already in the browser editor. Trim the small-talk intro, drop in captions, clean up the audio, and cut the best 45 seconds into a vertical Short — all in the same tab, no export-and-import dance. If you don't know which moment to clip, the editor's File menu has Find Clips (AI), which reads the transcript and points you at the strongest lines.
How it compares
Riverside and StreamYard are the names people reach for. They record remote guests well, but they're separate paid studios, and when the recording is done, you're done there — there's no real editor inside. To trim, caption, or cut a clip you export the file and open a second tool. You're paying for the studio and then doing your editing somewhere else.
