Getting Started
EZ Web Streams records entirely in your browser — there’s nothing to install and nothing to upload. Your camera, screen and voice are composited live on your device, and the moment you stop, your recording opens in the editor ready to polish.
Nothing to install, nothing uploaded
Everything happens right here in the tab. Your video never leaves your computer while you record — the file is built locally, so it’s private and fast. You only send anything to the cloud if you deliberately choose Get share link or use an AI feature.
The quickest path to a recording
Name your session when you are asked, pick your camera and mic in ⚙ Settings, click 🖥 Share Screen to add what you want to show, then hit the red Start Recording button in the center of the top bar. That’s it — you’re rolling.
The name is worth ten seconds: it becomes your file name, your transcript title and the subject line of any invite you send. See Naming & Scheduling on the left.
Your webcam is already here
Your camera shows as a floating circle on the black canvas before you share anything. Drag it anywhere, resize it, and add effects or a second camera whenever you like — all covered in the sections on the left.
When you stop, you edit
Press Stop and your recording lands on the review screen. From there, Download video saves it to your computer, or Edit video opens the full timeline editor with your recording already loaded.
Naming & Scheduling
Every session gets a name, and that one name does three jobs: it is the subject line of any invite you send, the name of the video file you download, and the title on your transcript. Name it once and everything downstream agrees.
The first thing you see
When you arrive at the studio you are asked What are you recording? Type a name — something like “Web Demo & Interview with Kara W” — and choose Start Session Now to go straight to the layout picker, or Schedule a Future Session to send calendar invites first.
In a hurry? Skip names it after the moment instead, like “Session, Aug 26 9:22pm”. You always end up with a real, distinguishable name — never a folder of files you cannot tell apart.
Where the name shows up
Beside the logo at the top, as a small pill. Click it any time to rename the session — the new name reaches your guests immediately. Your guests see this name too, on their own screen, which is how they know they are in the right place. Bear that in mind when you name something sensitive.
Scheduling a session
Open Invite → Schedule a session. Name each guest and give their email, pick a time and a length, add a note if it helps, and tick the box confirming they are expecting to hear from you. Everyone you name gets an email with the join link and a calendar file, so it lands in their calendar with one click.
You get a copy in your own inbox as well — useful three weeks later, when the link is easier to find in your mail than in the app. Scheduling needs an account, because a scheduled session is the one thing here that outlives the tab you made it in.
The join link, and how long it lasts
The link never changes. It is the same room from the moment you schedule it, so what sits in your guest’s calendar is exactly what they will join weeks later. It works whenever you are in that room.
Once a session is over the link retires: immediately if you press End Session, or a few hours after its scheduled finish if you simply close the tab. Someone opening a retired link is told plainly that the session has finished rather than staring at a spinner. A live session never expires — if you are hosting, the link works however far past its slot you have run.
The stage arranges itself
You do not have to pick a layout as people arrive. One guest gives you a side-by-side pair, two puts three across the frame, and from three onwards you are featured large with the guests gridded beside you — up to six. It only ever grows: if somebody drops out, their seat stays, because that empty seat is also how you invite the next person. Pick any layout yourself at any time from Layout and it stops adjusting. The layout button never offers you an arrangement that would hide somebody who is connected.
Guests who arrive early
Perfectly fine. They see Waiting for the host and connect automatically the moment you arrive, however long they have been sitting there. They do not need to reload.
Coming back to a scheduled session
Open your profile menu → Scheduled Sessions. Every session you have scheduled is listed with who was invited. Press ▶ Open this session and you are put back into the exact room your guests were invited to — which matters if you scheduled it on one machine and are hosting from another.
If something interrupts a recording
Your browser writes each recording to disk as it happens, so a crash, a closed tab or a lost power supply does not take it with them. Open the studio again and you are offered whatever was captured before it stopped, with the time it started and roughly how much survived — save it, or discard it and it is gone. It stays on your machine either way; it is not sent to us. One honest limit: the very last second or two before a hard power cut may not have reached the disk.
If you click your own invite link
Easily done — you asked for a copy of the invite, so the guest link is sitting in your inbox too. Open it while signed in and EZ Web Streams recognises the room as yours and offers Open the studio as host, which takes you to the right side of the session. Joining as a guest instead is still there if you want it, for checking what your guests see or for coming in from a second device — but if nobody opens the studio, everyone sits in the waiting room, because a session with no host has nobody to connect to.
What happened afterwards
The same list tells you how a finished session went: who actually turned up, how long it ran, and whether the recording was downloaded to your computer or kept in My Recordings.
Screen, Window & Tab
Click 🖥 Share Screen to choose what appears in your recording. Your browser opens a picker with three tabs.
Whole screen, a window, or a browser tab
Pick Entire Screen to capture everything you do (great for switching between apps), a single Window to show just one program, or a Chrome Tab to share one web page crisply. Sharing a window or a tab keeps everything else you’re doing private.
For the cleanest recording, share a Window or a Tab
For the tidiest result, share a single Window or a Browser Tab rather than your Entire Screen — that keeps the recorder’s own controls and preview out of the shot, so only your content is captured. When you do share your entire screen, the live preview is hidden on purpose (a screen can’t film itself without an endless mirror), so use Pop-out on a second monitor if you’d like to keep an eye on your guests while you present.
Switching what you share
Changed your mind? Click 🖥 Share Screen again (or Change screen share) to swap to a different screen, window or tab without ending your session — your cameras, guests and recording keep running while only the shared view changes.
The floating pop-out preview
When you share a window or a tab, a small pop-out preview can float on top so you can watch your guests while you present — and because it isn’t the shared surface, it never appears in the recording. If you share your entire screen, the pop-out shows a quick reminder to close it, since a full-screen capture can’t leave any window out.
Record only part of the screen
Use Select area to drag a rectangle and record just that region of your shared screen — handy for focusing on one app or cropping out clutter. Toggle it back with Reset to Full.
Cameras & Bubbles
Your webcam appears as a round circle (a “bubble”) floating over your screen share — the modern, personable look for tutorials and demos.
Move & resize your circle
Drag the circle anywhere on the canvas, and drag its edge to resize it live. Prefer presets? In ⚙ Settings set the Circle size (S / M / L) and snap it to any of six Circle positions (the corners, top-center or bottom-center).
Add a second camera
Connect a second webcam and Camera 2 lights up automatically — switch to its tab in ⚙ Settings to enable and place it. You get two independent circles you can drag and size separately, perfect for a room cam plus a document cam.
⚙ Settings — camera, mic, resolution & name
Open ⚙ Settings (top of the page) to choose your Camera and Microphone, set the recording Resolution (720p / 1080p / 1440p), and type your Stream Name — shown on the circle when your camera is off. You can change any of these mid-session.
Layout
Pick a Layout for a clean, camera-only arrangement with the host beside 1–2 guests — no screen share. Choose Equal columns or a Host featured layout with a large host card and guests stacked alongside. It’s the polished look for podcasts and face-to-face conversations.
Move & scale anything — even while recording
The whole canvas is yours to arrange: drag your camera circle(s), your logo and the lower-third to reposition them, and grab the corner grip to scale any of them. Best of all, you can now nudge the logo and lower-third into place during a recording too — the editing grips quietly hide themselves so they never show up in the video. Double-click the lower-third any time to open its Branding settings.
Undo & redo your layout
Moved or resized something by accident? Press Ctrl / ⌘ + Z to undo the last move or resize of a circle, logo or lower-third, and Ctrl / ⌘ + Shift + Z to redo it — so you can experiment with your layout without a second thought.
Live mic & volume glow
A soft green glow arcs along the bottom of each person’s circle and grows as they speak — a premium “who’s talking” cue that also reassures you their mic is working. It’s part of the recording, so the energy of the conversation comes through in the finished video.
Display menu — show & hide anything
Open the Display menu (next to Layout) to fine-tune what appears on screen — each item toggles live and flips to “Show…” when it’s off: Who’s Speaking (an “X is speaking” chip, shown in your preview only), Hide All Names, Hide All Camera Feeds, Hide Host Name, Hide Host Cameras and Hide Logo. Rearranged into a mess? Reset Elements snaps every circle, lower-third and logo back to its default position in one click.
Backgrounds & Effects
Open ✨ Effects to tune how your camera looks and to place a virtual background behind you — no green screen required.
Virtual backgrounds
Under Background, pick Blur to softly blur whatever’s behind you (with an adjustable blur amount), Image to drop in a preset scene or upload your own PNG/JPG, or Color for a clean solid backdrop.
Chroma green & blue — no real green screen
The Color backgrounds include classic chroma green and chroma blue, plus neutrals and accent colors — so you can key yourself onto any background later without owning a physical green screen.
Look & lighting
Fine-tune Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Warmth with the sliders to flatter your lighting, and hit Reset to return to defaults. There are also Privacy blur tools to drag blur rectangles over sensitive on-screen info (with an optional Auto-blur for emails, card numbers and amounts).
Reduce background noise
In ⚙ Settings, 🎙️ Reduce background noise uses your browser’s real-time filtering to cut steady hiss, fans and echo from your mic before it’s recorded — cleaner audio with one toggle.
Brand & Overlays
Make the recording yours. Open ⚙ Settings › Branding to add a logo watermark, a lower-third and a bottom banner — each shows live and burns into the saved file.
Logo watermark
Upload a logo (PNG, JPG or SVG — transparent PNGs look best) and pick its Position (any corner, top/bottom-center or mid-center). Record logo ON bakes it into the recording and shows it to guests; OFF keeps it only in your own preview while you set up.
Lower-thirds — name & title
Type your Name and Title / subtitle to add a tasteful name strip in the lower-left. Choose a style — Solid bar, Accent rule or Minimal — and toggle it on or off live during recording; it slides in and out in the saved file exactly when you switch it.
Drag, scale & double-click to edit — even mid-recording
Neither the lower-third nor the logo is locked in a corner — drag either one anywhere on the canvas and grab its corner grip to scale it. You can now reposition them while you’re recording too, and the editing grips auto-hide so they never appear in the video. Double-click the lower-third to jump straight into its Branding settings and edit the name and title.
Bottom banner
Add a single-line Banner across the bottom of the frame — perfect for a call-to-action like “Subscribe at ezwebstreams.com.” Toggle it live during recording; it burns into the saved file.
Live Guests
Bring people into your recording from anywhere. Click Invite + to get a link — your guests just open it in their browser, with nothing to install.
Invite by link
Invite + copies a join link you can send by chat or email. When a guest opens it and allows their camera and mic, they join your live session as their own circle on the canvas — up to 6 guests at once.
Guest screen-share, with your approval
A guest can request to share their screen — it only goes live after you approve it as the host, so nothing appears without your say-so.
Guests stay on camera while they present
When a guest shares their screen you get the best of both worlds: their screen fills the background while their camera circle and name & title lower-third stay right on top — so your audience never loses the face behind the presentation.
Host controls
Each guest has controls in the Invite + roster: toggle their video and sound, Mute guests to lock every mic, and Hide guest (or the ✕ on their circle) to remove them from view without disconnecting them. Show Guests brings hidden guests back.
Separate full-quality guest recordings
Alongside the live composite, each guest’s camera is captured as their own full-quality local recording — clean, isolated tracks unaffected by connection hiccups. Open ⬇ Guest recordings in the roster to download each guest’s track individually for a crisp, studio-style multitrack edit.
Ideate & Transcripts
Some conversations are worth keeping without being worth filming. Ideate captures the words and nothing else — no camera, no screen, no video file to manage.
What it is for
You spend forty minutes untangling something out loud, and then the call ends and the reasoning is gone. What survives a conversation is usually the decision; what is lost is the argument — which is the part worth re-reading, handing to an AI, or quoting back when somebody remembers it differently.
Press Ideate in the top bar to start. The bar shows a pulsing IDEATING badge for as long as it runs, and Finish ends it.
It never reaches our servers
Not the audio, not the words. Your browser does the transcribing and the text stays in your browser — we could not read it if we wanted to. We hold that line harder here than we do for video, and on purpose: a video is something you decide to make, but a conversation is what people say when they think they are just talking.
If you want a copy that outlives clearing your browser data, press ☁ Save to my account afterwards. Only then does any of it leave your machine, and only because you asked.
My Ideations
Profile menu → My Ideations lists everything you have captured, and each row says where it lives: On this device, In your account, or both. Read, copy or download any of them, and remove the account copy and the local copy separately — they are different things and the buttons say which is which.
Captions come from each person’s own browser
That is what keeps the audio private, and it has one consequence worth knowing: a guest on a browser that cannot do speech recognition contributes nothing to the transcript. Firefox switches it off, and phones are unreliable. Anyone affected is flagged in your guest list, and told on their own screen too, so nobody discovers the gap afterwards. Chrome or Edge on a computer is the reliable combination.
Transcripts during a recording
The same machinery runs while you record. Open the live transcript from More to watch it build, colour-coded by speaker, and your guests can open it on their side too. When you download your recording, the transcript is saved beside it as a PDF sharing the same name, so the pair stay together in your Downloads folder.
Who said what
Every line is labelled. Because each microphone in a call hears everyone else through the speakers, we work out who actually held the floor from the audio itself rather than trusting whichever machine happened to transcribe it — so a guest’s laptop picking up your voice does not end up crediting your words to them.
Recording & Download
The red Start Recording button in the center of the top bar starts and stops your take. Everything you’ve set up — cameras, screen, backgrounds, branding and guests — is recorded together.
Start, Pause & Stop
Hit Start Recording to begin; Pause to take a breather without cutting the take, then resume; and Stop when you’re done. A live timer keeps you on pace.
Spoken recording announcements
Everyone stays in the loop out loud: the recorder announces “This meeting is being recorded” just before you start, “Recording paused” and “Recording resumed” when you pause or continue, and “Recording stopped” when you finish. The host and every guest hear these cues, and they’re never captured into the file — so your recording stays clean.
Free vs Pro length & quality
The free plan records up to 5 minutes per recording at 720p. Pro removes the time limit entirely and unlocks HD (1080p and higher) for sharp, professional results.
Download to your computer
When you stop, click Download video to save the file straight to your device — nothing is uploaded. You can also grab a text Transcript (.txt) of what was said.
Who gets captioned? Every person is transcribed by their own browser, which is why the transcript can tell speakers apart without any extra setup. The catch: a guest whose browser cannot do speech recognition contributes no lines at all — Firefox switches the feature off by default, and Safari works but drops out on pauses. Their video, audio and the recording are unaffected; only their words are missing. The guest list flags anyone this applies to, so ask them to join from Chrome or Edge if the transcript matters.
Save & edit
Prefer to keep going? Click Edit video to open your recording in the full editor for trimming, captions and more. Want a shareable link instead? Get share link uploads it and gives you a URL (a Pro feature).
Editing Your Recording
Recording and editing are two halves of the same tool. When you stop, your take is ready to refine in the full timeline editor.
Open it in the editor
From the review screen, Edit video opens the editor with your recording already on the timeline — no import, no upload, no waiting.
What you can do there
The editor lets you trim and split, add captions and titles, wrap your video in premium backgrounds, remove pauses and filler words, generate AI clips for shorts, and export to MP4 or straight to YouTube.
